Tower cranes are referred to as tower cranes. Tower cranes can be classified according to their different types as follows.
(1) According to the structural type
① Fixed tower crane: A tower crane that fixes the tower body frame to the foundation or structure through connecting parts for lifting operations.
② Mobile tower crane: A tower crane with a running device that can travel. Depending on the running device, it can be divided into rail type, tire type, and crawler type.
(2) According to the slewing type
① Upper slewing tower crane: A tower crane with a slewing bearing set on the upper part of the tower body. It can be divided into tower cap slewing type, tower top slewing type, upper slewing platform type, slewing column type, etc.
② Slewing tower crane: A tower crane with a slewing bearing set at the bottom of the tower body and the tower body rotates relative to the base frame.
(3) According to the erection method
① Non-self-erecting tower crane: A tower crane that relies on other lifting equipment to assemble and erect the complete machine.
② Self-erecting tower crane: A tower crane that can realize the conversion between the transport state and the working state by relying on its own power device and mechanism.
(4) Classification by luffing method
① Trolley luffing tower crane: A tower crane whose luffing is performed by the movement of the lifting trolley along the boom.
② Boom luffing tower crane: A tower crane whose boom is luffed by pitching movement.
③ Folding-arm tower crane: A tower crane whose boom can be bent according to the needs of the lifting operation. It can have the performance of both boom luffing and trolley luffing.
